OorjaPac vs. Rapid Chargers

The OorjaPac operates as an on-board battery charger for vehicles in the material handling industry. The OorjaPac’s on-board sensors keep the vehicle’s battery at a constant state of charge eliminating the need for battery swapping and rapid charging. The power system reduces the dependency on public utilities and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 66% when compared to charging batteries using the grid. Refueling takes less than one minute improving productivity and supplies enough power for an entire shift.

OorjaPac Advantages

  • Allows one to be independent of the grid
  • Reduces emissions by 30-66%
  • Provides a stronger return on investment
  • Utilizes its on-board sensors to keep the vehicle’s battery charged
  • Provides a constant state of charge for maximum operational performance of trucks

Rapid Charger Disadvantages

  • Limited to one per truck and is approximately 4X more expensive than conventional  chargers
  • Degrades battery packs resulting from the high heat from repeated charging
  • Draws more current (amperage) than needed which is expensive during peak demand
  • Not compatible with all batteries so companies may have to purchase new batteries
  • Takes a total of two hours to charge these batteries which can be broken into charging segments. However, over charging is common and ends up damaging the battery
  • Overcharges push more energy into the battery than it can store causing the battery to overheat, gas excessively, and need more watering
  • Need to wait until the truck reaches 80% depth of discharge before charging
  • Using rapid chargers keeps one dependent on the grid
